My sweet friends. Lamp Light Festival is coming up fast and you shouldn't miss out on my favourite event of the year. My best performances of 2012, 2013, and 2014 have happened at Lamp Light and it never fails to create an experience with such enchantment. Often described as "Harvest Gathering in a living room", songwriters, beat-makers, and noise alchemist gather in living rooms and basements of homes in the Eastown Neighborhood of Grand Rapids. In these welcoming and intimate spaces, we get a chance to see some of the most talented and seasoned musicians, but also incredible up and coming artists from across America.
As much as Lamp Light celebrates music, it is just as much about food, community and the sharing of knowledge. There will be several workshops and discussion panels on our food systems, the music industry, fermenting, instrument maintenance, knitting, screen printing and more.
This year I will be performing with Pink Sugar Elephants which is a tribute to the work of legendary songwriter and contemporary of Nick Drake, Ms. Vashti Bunyan. Artist Hayley Hungerford and I have chosen a set of our favourite Vashti songs and are excited to share them with you on Saturday. I will also be closing out the festival on my cello with Strawberry Heritage Sunday night.
Don't forget to purchase your presale tickets for $30 at Vertigo Music. It's officially less than 2 weeks away. Day passes will be available day off for $15 at the door.
